Green and black bead necklace with chunky space rock focal bead
This freeform necklace is irregularly double stranded using a mix of beads in several shades of green, charcoal and black. I call the focal art bead "Space Rock Creature" as it looks like a meteorite or piece of moon rock. I made it from polymer clay. It is an irregular, organic shape with a decorative wrapping of variegated green viscose thread and filigree detail. The bead also has an indented texture which I have highlighted using silver acrylic paint for some celestial sparkle. The bead has a foam core so despite its size (4.2cm wide, 4.3cm tall and 2.8cm thick) it is very light.
Most of the beads in this statement necklace are glass, except for the round black beads which are acrylic, and the large oval shaped beads which are stone. I finished the necklace with a sterling silver lobster claw clasp and findings. This unique artisan necklace is 67cm long (long matinee length).
